Abstract

Artvin province, which has rich forest resources and wildlife, is one of the rare provinces of Türkiye in terms of biological diversity. In this scientific study conducted between 2010-2020 in the Hod valley in Artvin province, the existence of 31 mammal species belonging to 15 families was determined. The conservation status of the species was evaluated according to IUCN, BERN and CITES criteria. Of these species, Miniopterus schreibersi, Pipistrellus pipistrellus, Nyctalus leisleri, Canis lupus, Ursus arctos, and Capra aegagrus are in Annex 2 of the Bern Convention; Sorex minutus, Lepus capensis, Mustela nivalis, Meles meles and Rupicapra rupicapra are listed in Appendix 3., Capra aegagrus detected in the area is classified as threatened by the IUCN.
