The aim of this research is to examine the environmental awareness levels of 5th grade students according to the WebQuest method. The research was conducted with 95 5th grade students studying in a secondary school under the Ministry of National Education in Ankara in the 2016-2017 academic year. An experimental research design with experimental and control groups was applied in the study. The experimental group of the research consists of the WebQuest working group, and the control group is the group that works with the method suggested in the curriculum. In the research, as a data collection tool, "Environmental Awareness Scale" arranged for 5th grade students was applied. Environmental Awareness Scale was applied to experimental and control groups as a pre-test and a post-test. The obtained data were analysed by quantitative data collection methods. As a result of the research, a statistically significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups in environmental awareness pre-test and post-test scores in favour of the post-test. A significant difference was found between the post-test scores of the groups in favour of the experimental group. According to the gender variable no significant difference was found between the groups. According to the place of growth variables, which are city and village, a significant difference was found between the environmental awareness scores of the students in the experimental group in favour of those raised in the city; however, no significant difference was found between these variables in the control group.
